THE WORLD’S BABY is something of a panoramic portrait of a woman, Anna, between the thirties and fifties. Her only child could be the natural son of any one of three men. It is a mystery play. We follow her through the thirties to the fifties with all three lovers. Ultimately, she learns it doesn’t matter who the real father is. It is the child’s future she wants to believe in. An epic play which ranges from the Spanish Civil War to the collapse of Suez. Given a Royal Court Theatre single night without décor performance. Published by W H Allen. Awarded Brittanica Medal.
